Position: Health & Safety Services Instructor
Service: Health and Safety Department
Administrator supervising this position: Director of Health, Safety & Community Services
Reports To: Program Administrator
General Description: This is a nonexempt position under the direction of the Health & Safety Services Program Administrator. Instructor teaches one or all of the following: Adult, Child, Infant CPR, AED, BBP/PDT, Oxygen, First Aid, Lifeguarding, Babysitter�s Training, Injury Control Modules, Instructor�s classes and other courses as specified. Instructors support the goals of the Health and Safety Services Program by teaching health and safety-related classes in a variety of workplace settings and in the chapter.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teach classes held at the Red Cross, in the community and workplace.
2. Certify all students sign-in and complete all skills and written tests.
3. Pick up and return all material needed for classes held at community, and workplace sites.
4. Clean manikins if necessary.
5. Complete all paperwork and return to Red Cross, making sure all tests, answer sheets and evaluations have been retrieved from students.
6. Dress appropriately for workplace setting.
7. Instruct programs in a professional manner.
8. Start and end classes on time in compliance with American Red Cross guidelines.
9. If unable to teach scheduled class, notify Health & Safety 48 hours prior to class.
10. Meet requirement of teaching 80 hours per fiscal year.
Qualifications:
1. Excellent oral communication skills.
2. Friendly, outgoing demeanor.
3. Ability to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.
4. Have excellent skills in Rescue Breathing, Choking, CPR, AED and First Aid and/or other skills needed to teach specific courses.
5. Flexible and dependable.
6. Current authorization in one of the classes listed above.
7. Previous teaching or instructing experience is a preferred.
8. Valid Missouri State Driver�s license and a good driving record.
9. Training experience with diversified groups in varied settings to include trade, corporate, cultural, and union is preferred.
10. Ability to work a variety of shifts and have on call availability.
