Mom at War

In 1943, Jean Hogg Rayl lost her husband to enemy fire in Sicily during World War II. Rather than feeling sorry for herself, Jean enlisted in the American Red Cross and shipped out to Europe in July of 1944. By November, she found herself on the frontlines of the war. Jean celebrated V-E Day serving troops in Eastern Germany and returned home to Springfield, Missouri in October of '45.

Who knew that Jean's service during war time would prepare her for the fight of her life - Alzheimer's disease.

Todd Parnell, Jean's son, has put together his mother's memoirs in a touching tribute, "Mom at War". This compelling story of one woman's experience during war-time hit the shelves of local bookstores on Friday, November 11, 2005 --- Veteran's Day.

All proceeds from book sales will equally benefit the American Red Cross Greater Ozarks Chapter and the Alzheimer's Association Southwest Missouri Chapter. Reserve your copy of this limited printing for only $25. Call the Greater Ozarks Chapter to place your order.

Please show your support of these organizations. We hope you enjoy Jean's story of life, love, and the Red Cross.
