What Is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is Service with a capital 'S'!
AmeriCorps Members will serve in a variety of capacities to further advance the Humanitarian Mission of the American Red Cross.
There are three types of positions available (each one is described in detail below). AmeriCorps Members serve full time (1700 hours in a year, which is about 36 hours per week on average) and receive a modest living allowance of $11,800 for the year, free Health Insurance, as well as an Educational Award of $5,350 after successfully completing one year of service.

Position Descriptions
Recruitment and Presence Specialists
Seven Recruitment and Presence Specialists (RaPS) will be placed throughout Southern Missouri. These AmeriCorps Members will proactively build partnerships with Emergency Management, recruit volunteers, teach classes and build the Red Cross presence within certain assigned counties. These Members will be placed at sites throughout Southern Missouri (1 in Poplar Bluff, 1 in Benton, 1 in Kennett, 2 in Van Buren, 1 in West Plains and 1 in Joplin)

Volunteer Recruitment Specialist
The Volunteer Recruitment Specialist (VRS) will be placed in the Springfield Office and will ensure that new volunteers are being interviewed and entered into various Red Cross Systems. The VRS will also work with volunteers to create a Volunteer Career Path specific to their interests.

Training Specialist
The Training Specialist (TS) will be placed in the Springfield Office and will ensure that Red Cross courses (Health and Safety, Disaster, International and Preparedness) are being offered throughout underserved areas of Southern Missouri. This Member will coordinate training and maintain relationships with instructors to ensure that lifesaving courses are being taught to communities and volunteers.
